Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapy in Pediatrics
Pediatric physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy services are given to patients to improve their ability to become independent. Sunrise hospital has a team of therapists with specialized pediatric training to address all the patients therapy concerns.
Physical therapy works with mobility including sitting, walking, balance, stair training, and developmental aspects including crawling.
Occupational therapy helps with daily living skills, hand function and developmental aspects including coordination during play.
Speech therapy will help with communication skills and feeding skills.
All three work and coordinate together to help the child enhance their abilities. In the NICU there is a developmental team that works with the babies to encourage appropriate development and to make sure the families are comfortable interacting with their child to promote appropriate growth. All three services have a family centered approach that works together to make sure all goals are met for a positive hospital experience.
